BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT—THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2nd
Please join us for this year’s Back-to-School Night. This
will be an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, receive
information regarding coursework, and get a sense of the students’
daily schedules. This event will run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Your
child will provide you with a copy of their individual schedule.
MARSHALL SCHOOL COUNCIL
There is at least one opening for a parent on the Marshall School
Council. The Council typically meets on the first Monday of each
month at 1:45 p.m. If you are interested in serving, please submit
a brief letter or e-mail to my attention. The letter should include
your name, your child’s name, and a paragraph explaining why
you would like to participate.
FIRST PTO MEETING—TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7th
Our first PTO meeting will be held on October 7th at 7 p.m. The
meeting will feature at presentation by Marshall administrators
on FAQs (frequently asked questions) that parents may have about
our school or about middle school in general. The presentation will
be followed by a brief business meeting which will outline PTO activities
for the coming year.
LIBRARY BOOK FAIR
Our library-media center is one of the strengths of our school.
Each year, our librarian, Mrs. Melaugh, sponsors book fairs to support
the library. Our first book fair will be held during the week of
September 29th. Students typically visit the fair during one of
their English classes. Mrs. Melaugh will also have the fair open
during the Back-to-School Night on October 2nd. Please stop by that
evening to support our library.
COMMUNITY POLICE RESOURCE OFFICER
Billerica police officer has been assigned as a Community Resource
Officer for our two middle schools. Officer Keough will be a valuable
resource for students, parents, and staff. Please feel free to contact
him by leaving a message here at the school office.
NEW STAFF MEMBERS
We are pleased to welcome seven new staff members to our school
this year.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Our school collects box tops to support our PTO. Last year, we collected
over $2,000 in box tops. We are about to launch this year’s
campaign. Please save your box tops from General Mills products
and send them in for collections in your child’s homeroom.
We will forward more information shortly.

Our parent e-mail list now includes well over 200 addresses. E-mail
is a quick and easy way to access school information. By using e-mail,
we can also eliminate the cost of expensive monthly mailings.
If you would like to be added to the list, simply send an e-mail
to the address shown on page 1 with the title ADD ME.
