MCAS and Report Cards

***As you know, we are approaching MCAS season. Our teachers are very busy with course requests, preparing students for MCAS, preparing themselves to administer MCAS, verifying attendance, finalizing grades, etc.

***Our cafeteria will be providing FREE breakfast on the first day of MCAS testing for each student (It's on me!). After the first day, breakfast (bagel, fruit, etc.) will be available in the cafeteria for $1.25 as usual (Reduced .30/Free). Please encourage your child to eat breakfast in the cafeteria during MCAS. Because this is the most important meal of the day... I am allowing students to remain at breakfast until 7:50 am on testing days in order to allow more time. Testing will begin at 8:00 am. Students will check in with their homeroom teachers, drop off their belongings, then go to breakfast on their own. This is a great way to start a new habit and support our excellent breakfast program.

***The grading period ends March 27, as planned.
Because MCAS will begin March 30 and continue through April 9, report cards will be sent home on April 13.

Thank you for your patience during MCAS Season.

Updated Calendar of Events

Hello Parents,

We are fast approaching the busiest season of the school year. We appreciate your patience and diligence with your children during this time.

We are in the process of selecting courses for next year, and BMHS counselors (Tuesday morning) and administrators (Thursday afternoon) will visit this week to explain the diverse offerings at the high school. As soon as the process is complete, we will be sending course selection sheets home with 8th graders, hopefully by March 24. High school math course descriptions have changed since last year, so please reference the course guide from the high school for assistance. I do have an explanatory email from the math coordinator that I can forward to you, if needed.

MCAS testing will begin March 30, and the grading period ends just before testing begins on the 27th. Attendance during MCAS testing is essential as well: Each missed test counts towards the school as a failure. In addition,Testing time is very hectic, as our teachers serve as proctors for administering MCAS. We will have no TEAM meetings during the testing weeks, and homework will be greatly reduced. Please encourage your child to eat breakfast each day, especially during MCAS. The cafeteria is open for breakfast for the low, low price of $1.25.

Report cards will be sent home on April 13, due to the hectic testing schedule, in order to allow teachers ample time to fill in grades on your children's report cards.

Remember, your child should be eating healthy, including breakfast. He or she should be getting ample sleep and limited screen time. Good habits pay off during MCAS season!

Take care and enjoy the spring-like weather.
Tracy
