RE: SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND GRADUATION BULLETIN
This bulletin is distributed to you as a prospective June graduate. Please review this bulletin carefully, and retain it in a convenient place so that you may refer to it as is necessary. In addition, we strongly urge that you share this information with your parents, and keep them fully informed. A separate letter from us will be sent to your parents regarding senior activities and the Commencement (Graduation) Exercises. Your parentsÕ acknowledgment of all rules and regulations related to these activities must be submitted to Mrs. Galdston before sign-out can be completed.
Billerica Memorial High School wishes to recognize your academic achievement by honoring you and your class through an impressive and meaningful graduation ceremony. To remember this day favorably, it is certainly important that the commencement exercises for the Class of 2008 reflect well upon you, your class, and B.M.H.S.
To ensure that you are thoroughly familiar with what is expected, the following information is presented for your review and compliance.
SENIOR EXAMINATIONS
Examinations will be administered to Seniors on May 22, 23, and 27. You must be present for every exam unless you are exempt. Senior exemption for final exams applies to full-year courses only. In order to be exempt from a final exam, you must have the following:

á An 87% or better average for the Fourth Term as of the time of final exams;
á No more than 10 cumulative absences in that class for the year;

The final exam schedule is as follows:

á On Tuesday, May 27, one exam session and one makeup session are scheduled.
Seniors are required to be in school for exams only on these days.
SENIOR SIGN-OUT
All seniors will receive their sign-out sheets during homeroom on Tuesday, May 20. You may begin the sign-out process with your teachers at that time. I suggest that you also bring the sign-out sheet with you during final exams should you need to return books and complete the sign-out process at that time. The sign-out sheets must be completed by all of your teachers. Tuesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 21 are FULL DAYS FOR ALL SENIORS. We will conclude your regular attendance at school with your senior class photo being taken outside on the softball field. You are to wait for an announcement before proceeding out of doors. Ice cream will be served after the photo is taken.
All office detentions must be served before sign-out can be completed.
SENIOR BREAKFAST & SIGN-OUT: On Thursday morning, May 29 at 7:30 a.m., the Parent Organization will be hosting a Senior Breakfast.
After breakfast, sign-out will take place. You must obtain your guidance counselorÕs and class advisorsÕ signatures and then submit the completed sign-out sheet and the letter, which you and your parents have signed, to Mrs. Galdston. Do not lose these two important documents; they must be completed, signed, and turned in before you are Òsigned out.Ó If you have fulfilled all your other obligations and have the necessary signatures, you can expect to be dismissed by 11 a.m.
OUTSTANDING OBLIGATIONS
All outstanding school obligations must be satisfied before your sign-out can be completed. Completing these obligations before May 29 will speed up the process on sign-out day. Payments for lost textbooks should be made to your assistant principal and all library obligations must be taken care of with the librarian. All dues must be cleared through Mr. DeFeo; all disciplinary obligations must be cleared with Mrs. Galdston. Obligations include complete and up-to-date state-mandated immunizations. Students with outstanding obligations after May 29 who have not signed out will NOT be able to participate in the graduation ceremony.
LOCKER CLEANOUT
The only official locker cleanout day will be Tuesday, May 20. All seniorsÕ lockers should be cleaned and emptied out by Friday morning, May 23, during homeroom. Each senior should have his/her homeroom teacher check the locker and sign the sign-out sheet. Start early and get your lockers cleaned. The expectation is that anything that you have added to the locker will be removed. This includes writing on the locker doors and any stickers that you may have affixed to your locker.
