EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

 

State law provides the following:

“Every person shall have a right to attend the public schools of the town where he/she actually resides, subject to (the provisions of Chapter 76). No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town, or in obtaining the advantages, privileges and courses of study of such public school on account of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation.”

Federal law provides the following:

The Billerica Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and educational environment free from all forms of harassing conduct. Harassment based on race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability will not be tolerated in the Billerica Public Schools (Title IX). The Billerica Public School District does not discriminate on the basis of disability with regards to admission, access to services, treatment, or employment in its programs or activities (Sect. 504).
